We were delighted to be invited by the Department of Education and Youth to attend a National Forum on the Action Plan for Gaeilge in English Medium Schools. Eibhlin, Orla, Caoilte, Malo and Faye were our pupil representatives. There was one other primary school and one secondary school in attendance.
We listened to what the current research says and how schools can improve and promote Gaeilge further. We had the opportunity to discuss our opinions and feed these back. Malo and Eibhlin were very brave to take the microphone and express their thoughts to the room packed full of adults.
Countless members of the forum came up to us, complimenting the children on their decorum and ability to express themselves with clarity and confidence. It was an inspiring day for both children and teachers.
